FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - May 15, 2012 - Bakery El Monte Sinai Corp., located at 100 A North Franklin Street in Hempstead, New York 11550, is recalling rainbow cake because it may contain undeclared eggs. Consumers who are allergic to eggs may run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.

The recalled rainbow cake, in an 10 ounces Styrofoam tray with plastic wrap, code dated 7/8/12, UPC Code Number 5273500209, was sold in Nassau County, Suffolk County and New York County in NYS.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of eggs in packages of rainbow cake which did not declare eggs as an ingredient on the label.

No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported to date in connection with this product. Consumers who are allergic to eggs and purchase rainbow cake are urged to return them to the place of business. Consumer with questions may contact the company at 516.280.5098
