FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - August 1, 2012 - San Miguel Produce, Inc. of Oxnard, CA is recalling 48 cases of Cut ‘N Clean, Comfort (Cooking) Greens Kits, because products contain onions from Gills Onions, which has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Currently, no illness has been reported related to this recall. Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail, or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy persons may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
This Recall comes as a result of an expanded recall issued by Gills Onions, Oxnard, CA.
This Product was distributed July 13, 2012 through July17, 2012 to retail stores in the following states: Arizona, California, Iowa, and Nevada. This product is sold as a 24oz clamshell (plastic container with lid) cooking greens kit. Product is identifiable by the UPC Number 028764000616 this is located on the back label of the product. They are also identifiable by locating the run number and best used by dates are found on the lid of the container, under the product label. The run numbers and best used by dates are below:
